A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY
BEACH, FLORIDA, TO AWARD A CONTRACT FOR THE SALT WATER
INTRUSION MANAGEMENT PLAN, INSTALLATION OF SALINITY
MONITORING WELLS 1 AND 2 TO THE ALSAY-PIPPIN CORPORATION
IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,450.
WHEREAS, the city Council of the city of Delray Beach has re-
jected due to high prices, the only bid submitted for the Salt Water
Intrusion Management Plan Wells 1 and 2 in the amount of $15,792. at a
Special Council Meeting, August 7, 1978; and,
WHEREAS, the only bidder, A.E.C.O.A., Inc., did not respond to
inquiries and requests to negotiate a lower price; and,
WHEREAS, the Alsay-Pippin Corporation has, by negotiation,
agreed to contract for the Salt Water Intrusion Management Plan Moni-
toring Wells 1 and 2 for the amount of $8,450., a savings of $7.342.;
and,
WHEREAS, the Alsay-Pippin Corporation is a highly experienced
and reliable corporation which has contracted with the City for numerous
past well installations; and,
WHEREAS, no other contract prices have been obtainable from
qualified well drillers; and,
WHEREAS, the installation of the S.W.I.M.P. Salinity Monitor-
ing Wells 1 and 2 is required by South Florida Water Management District
as a condition of the City of Delray Beach's Water Use Permit; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the interest of public health and welfare
of the Citizens of the City of Delray Beach to maintain an adequate Salt
Water Intrusion Monitoring System,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach,
Florida, award the contract for the Salt Water Intrusion Management Plan
Monitoring Wells 1 and 2 to the Alsay-Pippin Corporation in the amount of
$8,45o.
Section 2. That the funding for this project is to come from
the Water and Sewer Fund Contingency Account.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session on this 28th day of
August, 1978.
