A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, COMMENDING THE DELRAY BEACH
POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE POLICE WORK IN THE
INVESTIGATION, APPREHENDING THE CRIMINALS AND
SEIZING OF A STRIKER YACHT, BOSTON WHALER AND
VAN IN A RECENT NARCOTICS ARREST.
WHEREAS, on June 11, 1977, after acting on information received
of activities at a residence on Rhodes Villa, a surveillance was initiated
by the Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, after continued surveillance, coupled with intelligence
information received that marijuana was being unloaded into the residence
on Rhodes Villa in total darkness and the fact that no one appeared to be
living in the house, two officers approached the rear of the house and
announced their presence; and,
WHEREAS, this action resulted in an exchange of gunfire and the
subsequent arrest of two white males; and,
WHEREAS, 94 bales of marijuana were removed from the boat and
house, which resulted in the impoundment of the boat; and,
WHEREAS, the combined efforts of the Police Personnel in this
raid shows the strength and dedication of the City's outstanding Police
Department; and,
WHEREAS, it is the City Council's desire to recognize and commend
the Police Department on behalf of the City Council and the citizens of
Delray Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ~RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Delray Beach
hereby commends the Police Department for their efforts throughout the
surveillance and the ultimate arrest and confiscation of the drugs, yacht,
Boston Whaler and Van.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session on this the 28th day of
November, 1977.
