A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE RESI-
DENTS OF HIGH POINT OF DELRAY BEACH IN THEIR
EFFORT TO RECEIVE COUNTY COMMISSION APPROVAL
FOR THE INSTALLATION OF A TRAFFIC SIGNAL ON
WEST ATLANTIC AVENUE 'AT THE HIGH POINT OF
DELRA¥ BEACH ENTRANCE.
WHEREAS, there are 1,000 families residing in High Point of Delray
Beach; and
WHEREAS, there is only one entrance from High Point.of DelraY Beach
onto West Atlantic Avenue; and
WHEREAS, West Atlantic Avenue isa main four-lane thoroughfare with
very heavy traffic; and
WHEREAS, the lack of a traffic signal at this intersection creates
a hazardous situation; and
WHEREAS, the residents of High Point of Delray Beach recognize this
situation and have circulated a petition which has been signed by 1,140
residents of said area requesting the installation of a traffic signal at
this intersection by Palm Beach ~ney, the governing authority having
jurisdiction over the installation of such signals on West Atlantic Avenue,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida,
recognizes the hazardous traffic situation that exists at the intersection
of the High Point of Delray Beach entrance and West Atlantic Avenue.
SECTION 2. That the City Council support~ the petition of the
residents of High Point of Delray Beach requesting the installation of
a traffic signal at the aforesaid intersection.
SECTION 3. That copies of this resolution be forwarded to the
County Commission of Palm Beach County, Florida, and the Palm Beach County
Engineering Department.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session on this the 24th day of
February, 1975.
