Richter, the Club lost its most valuable member. Except for him, there would be no lawn bowling in Delray Beach; because of him. we enjoy the best lawn bowling' court of /ts size and kind in the State of Florida. On moving to this City, Keith Richter, an experienced and capable bowler and a lover of this great English game, felt the need for l~n bowling ].n this community. He knew it would attract good people to Delray Beach and keep them coming here. ~e enlisted the support of his nei. ghbor0 Mayor Avery. and got a generous offer from his friend, Walter Kistner of Chicago, to landscape the grounds, and then. he kept after the me,bets of the City Council, until they appropriated the money needed to build the green. Then he watched daily to see that it was properly constructed. tte was elected the Club's first President and was con- tinued in such office. He was truly its founder. In appreciation of his services to his fellow Club members and the resultant benefit to the City of Delray Beach, we deem it appropriate that the bowling green be named for h~m and that hereafter it be referred to as: KEI~ A. RICHTER MEMORIAL LAWN BOWLING ~%EEN If, and upon such action being approved by the Mayor and City Council of Delray Beach. this Club agrees to place and maintain a suitable name plate st the entrance gate of such lawn bowling green.
