Res 50-65 RESOLUTION NO. 50-65. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, REQUIRING PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND ESTIMATE OF COST TO CON- STRUCT A SIDEWALK WITHIN THE STREET RIGHTS- OF-WAY OF VARIOUS STREETS WITHIN THE CITY. W"HEREAS, the City Council has deemed it a matter of public safety and welfare to provide a sidewalk within the rights-of-way of the following streets: N. W. 8th Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to 2nd Street. N. W. 2nd Street from 8th Avenue to 14th Avenue. N. W. 10th Avenue from 2nd Street to 3rd Street. N. W. 14th Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to 3rd Street. S. W. 2nd Street from 5th Avenue to 8th Avenue. S. W. 8th Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to 3rd Street. S. W. 3rd Street from 8th Avenue to 14th Avenue. S. W. 10th Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to 3rd Street. S. W. 14th Avenue from Atlantic Avenue to 3rd Street. Said sidewalks to be five (5) feet in width, the City of Delray Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida, to share equally in the cost of such improvement with the owners of the lands abutting thereon. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Delray Beach, Florida, as follows: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be required to sub- mit plans, specifications and an estimate of the cost of such improvements to be made, and that the same shall be placed on file in the office of the City Manager. Gatchel, City Manager Subject: Sidewalks - Western Sector of the City In accordance with your instructions and at the request of the City Council, the City Engineer and Chief of Police ~ave completed a study of the sidewalk situation in the western sector as it affects school children walking to and from Spady Elementary and Carver High schools. It is our recommendation that the following sidewalks be installed to form a basic grid-work of walkways covering the main routes traveled to and from these schools. Lin. Ft. Cost estimates are being obtained on two types of overhead footwalks; one a prefabricated steel arch-type walk as offered by t~e Pittsburgh DesMoines Steel Co., and the other a prestressed concrete walkway being considered by the County Engineering Office.
