A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA, IN HONOR
AND DEEP APPRECIATION OF ~%RREN G. GRIMES.
W~EREAS, the Christmas Lighting Committee of the
Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce has recently been confronted
with the problem of replacing the Christmas tree which has an-
nually been erected on the beach in this community; and
WHEREAS, WARREN G. GRIMES has offered to purchase
a new tree which will be superior to any of the former trees,
and which should last for many years; and
WHEREAS, throughout the years the City of Delray
Beach has received many contributions from said W~/~REN G.
GRIMES, including the annual July 4th fireworks display; how-
ever, many have gone unnoticed; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous that the
generosity of WARREN G. GRIMES be recognized, acclaimed and
permanently recorded;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T~E CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DELRA¥ BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
In honor and deep appreciation of the many phil-
anthropic activities of ~%RREN G. GRIMES which have so greatly
benefitted the citizens of this community, we hereby declare
that Friday, November 26, 1965, shall be "~%RREN G. GRIMES
DAY".
It is further resolved that the City Manager, in
conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce, shall arrange an
appropriate ceremony in further commemoration of his generosity.
UNANIMOUSLY PASSED ANDADOPTED this 22nd day of
November, 1965.
